Four windows depicting angels (one of the obsessions of the Pre-Raphaelite artists) are set in each corner of the church. This one is in a dark corridor alongside the vestry leading from the back door. No doubt it would once have been visible from the nave.
Many visitors think this is St George. The memory of his slaying the dragon burns brighter in English minds. It is in fact Michael slaying the fallen angel. The text around the edge reads:
“Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to withstand the wiles of the devil.”
