Two events this Christmas had St Chad’s packed to the rafters.
On Sunday 12th December the Band of the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment led an evening of Christmas Music and Carol Singing along with members of the Performance Studios Choir and Children from Kirkby Church of England School. About £600 was raised for the Duke Of Lancaster’s Regiment Charity to support war wounded soldiers and the evening was full of fun and sparkle.
On the following Tuesday Kirkby CE School brought their Nativity into the Church to tell and celebrate the Christmas story – a reminder of the way heaven touched the world in the birth of Jesus Christ.
The Midnight Communion Services and Christmas Morning Services at St Chad’s, St Andrew’s and St Martin’s all take place as normal this year despite the snow. Services at St Mark’s over the weekend have been cancelled.

TANGO which stands for ‘Together as Neighbours Giving Out’ is an exciting new project at St Mark’s Church in Northwood. It is a mix of cafe, charity shop and church and is run by a team of dedicated volunteers drawn from both the community and church.
TANGO runs from 12noon till 2pm on Thursdays when you can get lunch for just £1 whilst browsing the many bargains on offer. Stock changes continually so you’ll have to keep coming back for the best finds! Or if you prefer just come in for a warm and join us for cuppa – have as many as you like because they’re completely free! As volunteers we come together before opening the doors about 11.30am to have a time of reflection which may include prayers, a quiet time, lighting candles, sharing experiences or listening to piece of music. Anyone is welcome to join us for this so please do.
TANGO is continually in need of several things; firstly donations. Clothes, household goods, linens and toys are the main stays but anything goes really so long as it’s in good condition. Secondly, volunteers. We could not run if it were not for our amazing volunteers. If you have a couple of hours to spare in the week then why not get in touch? And lastly we need your prayers. Please pray that we can continue welcome and share God’s unconditional and unending love with everyone who comes into TANGO.
